In the book “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari” by Robin Sharma, there are seven principles of life that will help us to lead a satisfying life. This article, explains it in a very simple way; let's have a look at them!

1) Master your mind

The garden in the story symbolizes the mind. We can master our mind by “The heart of the rose” technique, Take a rose, sit in silence and stare at the center of the rose. Enjoy its fragrance and think how amazing it is. During the initial days, our minds will wander. It gets better with daily practice.

2) Purpose of your life

The lighthouse symbolizes our purpose in life. The best method to master it is The 5 step method.

  • The first step is to have clear defined results.
  • The second is to have positive pressure on yourself to attain it.
  • The third is to attach a timeline with it.
  • The next step is to practice your goal for 21 days.
  • Step five is to enjoy the process.

3) Self-improvement

Kaizen symbolized by sumo wrestler means “Continuous improvement”. For this virtue, there are 10 rituals to follow.

  • The ritual of solitude — Spend some time every day with yourself in peace to know yourself better.
  • The ritual of physicality -As you train your mind, train your body as well.
  • The ritual of live nourishment — follow a vegetarian diet.
  • The ritual of knowledge — Abundant knowledge requires continuous reading and learning.
  • The ritual of personal reflection — See yourself in a mirror and review daily.
  • The ritual of early awakening — Sleep early and wake up early. Morning time is the best time without the least distraction. Utilize it to achieve your dreams. Get up early and feel the difference.
  • The ritual of music — Music is the best motivator. Spend a little time with it every day.
  • The ritual of spoken word — Develop a habit of positive self-talk.
  • The ritual of the congruent character — Build your character every day. It includes taking actions and habits. Our actions make our habits. Our habits make our destiny. Our habits make our character. Take significant steps to make yourself a better version.
  • The ritual of simplicity — Live a simple life. In today’s era, our needs and desires are increasing at great speed. Reduce your needs and be content with less.

4) Discipline

The fourth principle is represented by pink wire which means discipline and self-control in life. For mastering it the sage suggested The vow of silence which will enhance your self-control capacity.

5) Respect time

The clock in the story denotes the importance of time. For mastering this, Act every day as it is your last day and Have the courage to say “No”

6) Acts of kindness

Flower and fragrance denote selfless love. For this, every morning think about what good you can do to this world and practice sincerely praising others.

7) Embrace the present

The path of diamonds in the story symbolizes “the present.” for this, practice gratitude daily and understand nothing is important than ‘right now’.
